Information about Phatthalung Highway District Office
The office is located at 437 Rameshwar Road, Khuha Sawan Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phatthalung Province. It was established in 1953 and a permanent office building was constructed in 1959, covering an area of 29 rai, 1 ngan, and 31.10 square wah. On November 1, 2017, the land was returned to the Treasury Department of Phatthalung Province for allocation to Phatthalung Hospital, to be used for the construction of a 298-bed patient accommodation building, covering 7 rai, 3 ngan, and 9.41 square wah. The remaining land area is now 21 rai, 2 ngan, and 21.69 square wah.
Phatthalung Highway District Office is a government agency under the Ministry of Transport, located in the southern region and affiliated with Highway District Office 15 (Songkhla) of the Department of Highways. The original building was a single-story concrete structure with concrete walls and wooden floors. It was extended at the back of the original building around 1974 to increase workspace. The office operated from this building until 2004 when the condition of the building became overcrowded and deteriorated. In 2004, the department allocated a budget to completely renovate the building, which included replacing the wooden floors with concrete, installing new ceiling tiles, and changing the roof frame and roofing tiles. The building was repainted and reinforced to improve its appearance and durability.
Subsequently, the Department of Highways issued an order (No. J2.1/5/2561) on June 13, 2018, to restructure the administration of highway districts under Highway Offices 4-5, 8-9, and 16-18. As a result, Phatthalung Highway District Office was transferred to Highway District Office 16 (Nakhon Si Thammarat) as per the department's directive.
